We love switching out our board books for the seasons and holidays. It helps to keep things fresh and exciting and Kade loves finding new books in his basket. I chose 5 of our current favorites to share with you as Easter approaches this weekend. Some of these books I ordered for Kade last month and some of them showed up in the Easter basket that he got from his grammy.

Board books make a GREAT addition to an Easter basket for babies/toddlers. At the end of my post, I included a few other fun, last minute, Easter basket ideas for littles.

1. Llama Llama Easter Egg
We LOVE the Llama Llama books! They are so short, sweet, and have the most perfect little rhymes. Kade always picks this book out and then looks at me and whines [yay] until I read it to him. It's crazy how kids at such a young age can already pick up on the fun in a catchy, sing-songy rhyme. These books are also the perfect length for little ones who don't sit still for very long, and they are easy to memorize which comes in handy if you have a speed reader who just wants to flip the pages as fast as they can. ;)

2. Happy Easter, Mouse!
Laura Numeroff strikes again. The little characters in her books are just adorable and there's almost always an exciting little "surprise" of some sort at the end of the story. Kade seems to pick up on this, whether it's the look on the characters' faces that gets him excited, or just the obnoxious inflection in my voice, he always seems to love the endings. Numeroff also tends to include something educational in her books. This one in particular has color words which are actually written out in that color, and she also illustrates a different number of eggs on each page so you can practice counting as you read.

3. Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs?
This is an ever-so-popular lift-the-flap book. Babies and toddlers just love that element of surprise... hence their love for playing peek-a-boo. This book has tons of bright colored illustrations and big flaps for little hands to lift and peek under on their own. Kade loves lifting the flaps in this book as we look to find baby's Easter eggs on each page.

4. The Itsy Bitsy Duckling
Read to the tune of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," this book is also a real crowd pleaser. Kade is really into animals these days and has been attempting to say "duck" and "ducky." He loves to see the "ducks" in this book and he also loves hearing me "sing." It's a win-win. I love how well this book portrays the season of spring as it talks about the snow melting, the rain falling, sun shining, and flowers growing. It serves as a great tool to use to start talking about seasons and weather with your little one.

5. That's Not My Lamb
If you haven't heard of Usborne Children's Books, you should really look them up. They have the best books! Especially this series of touch and feel books. The illustrations, and the stories themselves are very baby/kid-friendly and they incorporate so many different, unique textures. Kade's new thing lately, thanks to a page in this book that asks the reader to touch their nose to the pig's nose, is to try and touch his nose to the textures on every page. It is hilarious!
